Vaakyaవాక్యం

మీ మాట, వారి భాషలో

Amma can go to the pharmacy on her own.

Vaakya is a voice interpreter for Indian parents visiting you abroad, starting with Telugu. They speak Telugu, or Telugu mixed with English. The person across the counter hears calm, clear English, and the reply comes back in Telugu, in large text.

Telugu first. Hindi, Tamil and Kannada next.

Conversation steps

Amma asks in Telugu. The pharmacist reads it and hears it in English.

ఎక్కడైనా, ఎవరితోనైనా

From the immigration desk to the neighbour's garden

The hard moments are short and important. Vaakya is built for them, and for the easy ones that make a long visit feel less lonely.

One button, and a check before it speaks

  1. Step 1

Tap the marigold button and speak

Telugu, Tinglish, or Telugu with English words like sugar, BP and gate. Their words appear on screen as they speak. Tap Stop when done; nothing to hold down.

  2. Step 2

Vaakya says back what it heard

Before speaking English for your parent, Vaakya shows the Telugu it heard, and reads it aloud if they tap Listen. They confirm, or say it again.

    నేను విన్నది:నాకు sugar ఉంది. ఈ దగ్గు మందు తీసుకోవచ్చా?

పెద్దవాళ్ళ కోసం

Made for a 70-year-old in a busy airport

Every screen has one obvious thing to press, words beside every icon, and text your parents can read without their glasses.

  • One marigold button

Their own button is marigold and always in the same place. Tap it, watch their words appear as they speak, then tap Stop.

  • Large, clear text

Never smaller than the phone's own reading size, and it grows when they turn up text size.

  • Understands how they really talk

Telugu sentences with English words in them, the way families in Hyderabad speak.

  • Works with no internet

A phrasebook for immigration, the airport, the pharmacy and the doctor, ready on the plane, before their Indian SIM finds a signal.

  • A kind voice

A calm, mature English voice speaks for them, and every reply can be heard again.

  • An emergency button

One tap says “Please call 911. I don't speak English.” and shows your number in large digits.

పిల్లల కోసం

You set it up. They just speak.

Most parents won't install or configure an app. You do it from your phone before the trip, and Vaakya opens straight to their marigold speak button.

Coming next: the doctor's visit, remembered

Record what the doctor or pharmacist said. Your parent hears it again at home in Telugu, and medicine reminders start only after you confirm them.

Questions families ask

Why not just use Google Translate?

Google Translate is free and good, and many families use it. Vaakya is built for one person: your parent. It says back what it heard in Telugu before it speaks, understands Telugu mixed with English, keeps text large and the screen simple, and its phrasebook works with no internet at the immigration desk.

Does it work without internet?

The phrasebook does: immigration, airport, pharmacy, doctor, shop and emergency lines, recorded in clear English and stored on the phone. Free conversation needs a data connection or Wi-Fi.

Is it medical advice?

No. Vaakya translates what people say and never gives advice. In US hospitals your parent can also ask for a free interpreter, and Vaakya can ask for one in English for them.

Are conversations recorded?

Vaakya listens only while the button is on, and a clear sign shows when it is listening. Conversations are not kept unless you turn on history in family settings.

Which languages and countries?

Telugu to English first, for the US, UK, Canada and Australia. Hindi, Tamil and Kannada are next.
